PROCESS & SUSTAINABILITY

COLFEED4Print aims to develop sustainable solutions for additive manufacturing, recycling industrial residues as raw material in order to refrain from overly relying on key resources. Our technology allows for the production of personalized complex pieces, free of waste and on demand, favoring an environmentally-friendly production process. In tackling key sectors such as transport, health, and energy, we aim to promote sustainability and the preservation of natural resources.

Thanks to our patented technology (PCT ES2019070348S) our printable compound materials are unique in the market. Through combining inorganic functional materials with a thermoplastic biomass matrix, an homogenous mix is attained, which, after granulation, can be used for the extrusion of high-quality filaments, without generating residues, reinforcing our compromise with sustainability and innovation.

Advantages of our process

  • It’s more efficient in the mixing of the phases.
  • It generates an intermediate product, a raw material that has become a stapple in new generation FFF printers.
  • It’s less intensive in the use of energy, limiting the thermal extrusion to the fabricating of the filament.
  • It generates no waste of material.
  • It’s more versatile, allowing to work with smaller batches as well as with smaller production.
  • It’s ideal for products of higher added value.
  • It’s universal. We can produce unlimited personalized compositions.

Projects

At COLFEED, we aim to cover the necesity for efficient materials in several niches of the technological market, to shape active components that can be applied to the final engineering of a product, be it a battery, sensors, industrial tools, biomedical products, etc.

Our proposal aims to position a unique, state-of-the-art technology with the help of  the Comunidad de Madrid and CSIC, generating employment and opening business ventures in emerging markets on an international level.

Our market proposal directly impacts on the European Green Deal, from the conceptualization of our products to their application, as shown in our projects:

Green Hydrogen generation

Development of solid electrolyzers using FILAMENT-Eco. Funded by the Comunidad de Madrid and Ministry for the Ecological Transition (IND2022IND-23603).

Purification of contaminated water

Fabrication of photoelectrocatalyzers for the purification of contaminated water, using zinc oxide and nanotitania, in a project funded by a private initiative.

Medical implants and bone regeneration

Our proposal also impacta another EU mission: the fight against cancer, with a project in regenerative medicine for temporary, degradable, and bioactive bone implants -in CDTI-NEOTEC 2021 project- for the certification of out FILAMENT-Oss as per the ISO 13485 and ISO 10993 normatives.

Valuefication of industrial waste

Development of AI-powered management and recycling of strategic materials in the frame of the GEAR-UP project (CDTI-MISIONES 2021)

Clean energy

Production of components for ion-lithium batteries and supercondensers with compound filaments imbued with advanced materials such as graphene or graphite.
