20 Jun Spring Event Recap: yCam and more…
Spring at COLFEED4Print has been jam-packed with visits to several events all around Europe. As a group centered on the development of a wide variety of advanced materials, we like to keep up with many areas of research by attending the leading events and forums pertaining to these sectors, often-times as active participants, giving talks on our investigation and development, and sharing our pitch with a wider audience.
In the realm of energy and sustainability, April saw Pablo Ortega, COLFEED’s Printing Manager, give a talk on Material Thermal Extrusion (MTE) of nano TiO2-Graphene based photoelectroactive electrodes for green hydrogen generation at yCam (the young Ceramists Additive Manufacturing Forum), an event organised by the EMC (Europe Makes Ceramiscs) network of ECerS and Sponsored by the JECSTrust, a nerworking space geared towards younger researchers in the field of additive manufacturing in ceramics.

As for the realm of biomedicine, at COLFEED we’re taking a huge leap in the development of biomaterials for medicine, specifically in the way of bone regeneration, with the certification of our product ClinicOss, a osseoinductive and fully biodegradable filament. For this reason, this spring we’ve put a bigger effort in moving within biomedicine-focused spaces. Events like PresentaciĂłn del informe «Terapias avanzadas: actores clave, tendencias y situaciĂłn en la Comunidad de Madrid», organized by the Spanish Research Council, and Expodental Barcelona, a melting pot for innovative dental health all around Europe, were some of the highlights this semester in the way of health-related events, giving us a peek into the ecosystem of Madrid’s health sector, leading to connecting with hospitals, clinics and research centers, as well as investors. Of course, we also take care to attend smaller gatherings, geared towards more niche sectors and specific platforms, like ASEBIO’s Foro de Innovadores “InnovaciĂłn BiotecnolĂłgica: Ciencia con Impacto“ or AIMPLAS’s “Additive Manufacturing in Health Industry: Main Challenges and Main Advantages”, and even spaces we see potential in, even when not AM-specific, like FEINDEF.
Back in May, we spent some time as a team in Cordoba, Spain for JIMAF, an event geared towards young researchers in Spain and a conference cycle at IMIBIC, the Maimonides Biomedical Research Institute of Cordoba, for several talks imparted by our members in the realms of clean energy and the development and use of biomaterials in the health sector.
But bigger things await this year! In the following months we will be attending ECerS Conference in Dresden and Advanced Manufacturing in Madrid, where we’ll bring our full catalogue and demonstrations. Keep up with our newsletter to learn more about our research and upcoming events.
