15 Apr ImplantaOss®: an innovative, ISO-certified solution for implant production
ImplantaOss® is COLFEED’s proposal for the field of implantology: a osteoinductive, printable material intended for bone regeneration. By imbuing hydroxyapatite particles into a polymer matrix, and optimizing the mixture for MTE (Material Thermal Extrusion) 3D printing in granule and filament form, we aim to bring the customization possibilities facilitated by additive manufacturing into implant production. This solution would allow for in-house manufacturing of implants, significantly reducing costs and emissions in the production process. Moreso, its osteoinductive and bioabsorbable properties would mean avoiding second surgeries, and thus decreasing recovery times, a meaningful quality of life improvement for patients.
ImplantaOss® is now certified as biocompatible (ISO-10995), reducing the risk of rejection, and as suitable for its use as feedstock for medical devices (ISO-13485), ensuring it’s quality and safety for use in clinics and hospitals. It’s sterizable by autoclave and UV radiation without altering its performance, has an antibacterial effect and allows obtaining multidirectional and customized porosity, making it an optimal and easy to handle solution for implant production.
