COLFEED4Print is now checking mechanical properties of their 3D printed materials in the form of dogbone specimens

Tensile properties provide useful data for materials engineering design purposes.

The tensile tests of the Colfeed4Print materials are performed following the ASTM D638 standard.   For this purpose, some Type V specimens in the form of standard dogbones with the dimensions of figure 1a are prepared.

This test method covers the determination of the tensile properties of 3Dprinted specimens when they are tested under defined conditions of pretreatment, temperature, humidity, and testing machine speed.

Tensile properties are known to vary with specimen preparation and with speed and environment of testing. Consequently, where precise comparative results are desired, these factors must be carefully controlled.
